What is flow state?

A flow state, or "being in the zone," is a mental state of complete absorption in an activity, which includes:

  • energised focus

  • full involvement

  • enjoyment

  • little or no sense of time

  • a loss of self-consciousness.

The phrase “free flow” was coined by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, who has been described by the American Psychological Society President, Martin Seligman, as being the world’s leading researcher on positive psychology.

Flow state is for everyone.

You don't need to be able to draw or paint to appreciate the benefits of flow state.  In fact, you may never have held a paintbrush before.

You just need to start with your first pencil line and - guided by Tracey - she will help enable you to become absorbed into a flow state following the line of your pen or pencil. Flow state is for you if:

  • you want to live your life in a more open, creative and positive way.

  • you are overwhelmed by a specific event or situation in your life.

  • you are struggling to concentrate or find purpose in your life.

  • you would like to try some new creative activities to improve your focus and well-being.

How does flow state work?

In flow state workshops, you'll engage in creative activities designed to help you achieve a deeply relaxed and focused state. Through guided exercises, you'll learn to:

  • Quiet your mind: let go of distractions and worries.

  • Connect with your creativity: explore your artistic expression without judgment.

  • Experience flow: immerse yourself in the present moment and enjoy the process.

Moving Forward Creatively workshops with Tracey Hanson will leave you feeling more inspired, empowered, and ready to take on the world.
